Who are we...  The Grande Prairie GIRLCHOIR is composed of three choirs. Each choir receives weekly rehearsals focused on vocal production, performance and musical understanding.  The choirs perform individually and on occassion all together.
	Prima Preparatory Choir This choir is for our youngest singers. This choir rehearses for 1 hour each week.  The focus of this choir is to develop an understanding of the basics of choral singing, providing a solid foundation for vocal technique and life in a choral ensemble. Rehearsals are on TUESDAYS from 4 to 5PM. FIRST REHEARSAL: TUESDAY September 14/10 Bella Choir This choir for our intermediate age singers. This choir rehearses for 1 hour and 15 minutes each week.  The choir provides girls with vocal training & technique within the ensemble setting. Focus is still on providing a solid foundation for vocal technique and life in a choral ensemble. Rehearsals are on WEDNESDAYS from 4 to 5:15PM. FIRST REHEARSAL: WEDNESDAY September 15/10   Allegra Choir This choir is for our older and advanced singers.  This choir provides an opportunity for girls to develop skills and repertoire at a higher level.  Girls in Allegra also sing part-time with the Bella Choir, having a 15 minute overlap of combined rehearsal (5:00 to 5:15). Rehersals are on WEDNESDAYS from 4:30 to 6:00PM. FIRST REHEARSAL: WEDNESDAY September 15/10 Grande Prairie GIRLCHOIR Musical Staff: Terra Shewchuk, Director Terra was born & raised in Grande Prairie. She attended the University of Alberta (B. Mus. '98; B. Ed. '00) and the University of Victoria.  Terra has been an elementary music teacher for the past 9+ years. She is an avid reader and enjoys all types of music.  Terra is passionate about bringing music into the lives of children.   Sheila Shepherd, Accompanist Sheila has lived in Grande Prairie since 1975.  She attended Brandon University (B. Mus. Ed) and has her Grade X1 A (Western Board) in voice & piano.  Sheila was an elementary music teacher for 15 years and now has a lively private piano studio. To start the year off  we get all of the girls together for a START-UP CHORAL WORKSHOP on Saturday, September 11 from 9:30AM to 12:30PM.  This workshop will be an opportunity for all of the girls to meet prior to our first formal rehearsal.  The workshop will be a chance the girls to not only get singing but to begin developping the cameraderie that is essential to our family of choir.  The girls need to bring a water bottle and non-skid/non-marking indoor footwear.  A snack will be provided.  They will also be measured and fitted for unforms (most will be able to take them home on this day). Tuition payment must be settled on this day. Please let us know if your daughter is unable to attend.
